Location
The Meliá Berlin hotel is located in the heart of the German capital just a few minutes walk from famous monuments and tourist attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate, Museum Island or Alexanderplatz. The Melia is next to the river Spree where boat companies offer sightseeing trips down the river through the city of Berlin starting very close to the hotel. The government district with the "Reichstag" and the "Kanzleramt" are also nearby. In the evening, you can enjoy one of the fantastic performances at the famous theatre "Friedrichstadtpalast". Thanks to its facilities, its central location and the direct connection to all local public transports, the Meliá Berlin hotel is ideal for both business and leisure guests. A bell boy will welcome you and help you on arrival, while a concierge provides a tickets service for all of the shows even at very short notice.

Access
The hotel has 15 rooms fully equipped for disabled guests. Barrier-free access to all areas of the room, including a roll in shower and emergency alarm system. Door peephole height adjusted for wheelchair users and barrier- free access to the bathroom and shower.

Berlin very well may be the best city in the world for 20th century history. Berlin is also one of the most wheelchair accessible cities in Europe. The flat topography and heavy bombing during World War II have resulted in accessible sidewalks, few cobblestones and modern buildings. There are much fewer cobblestone streets or 100 year old buildings used for hotels and museums than you will find in Paris or Rome.

Additionally, public transportation such as buses and subways provide good disabled access around Berlin. Ninety-five percent of the busses in Berlin are accessible via a ramp that the driver will lower onto the curb. Both the front and rear doors have ramps. In some instances the bus can lower to the curb and the floor of the bus may be level with the pavement, and you won’t even need the ramp. Over 50 underground and over 100 train stations are equipped with elevators or ramps, to provide easy access to the platforms. Information on travelling by train in Berlin.
